The Severity of Meningitis

There are a number of medical conditions one can contract that are extremely serious and meningitis most definitely falls into this category. For those not familiar with what this condition entails it is a bacterial infection that can cause serious complications in the brain or spinal area. Meningitis has a number of potential causes such as exposure to fungus, the presence of tumors in the body and chemical irritants but the most common cause is an untreated viral infection. The most common symptoms of this condition are neck pain, nausea, fever and chills. The most common treatment is antibiotics which must be prescribed by a doctor. Of course, self diagnosis of the condition is impossible and regular yearly physicals are recommended so as to detect this or any other serious condition before they worsen
