Meningitis and MRSA Infections and Precautions

Perhaps it’s a way of life in school today but meningitis and MRSA infections run amuck.

In two Long Island schools, there are three students with meningitis and one student with MRSA. Two of the students are related. Students were not identified for privacy sake.

All students are recovering but one is in the hospital but it’s not serious or fatal.

Custodians will once again be disinfecting the locker rooms, bathrooms, water fountains, banisters, and door handles. The district said custodians worked late Friday to disinfect the school.

Meningitis and MRSA Precautions
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Use warm water and soap, and rub hands together for 20 seconds.
  • Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Then wash your hands.
  • Use a sanitizer. Apply product to one hand, and rub over both hands until hands are dry.
